My name is Delis Piile the artist and ceramicist behind Earth with Fire. Currently specializing in making handmade functional wares, — though the occasional sculpture does sneak in, in an old rubber factory called Põhjala in the end of Kopli peninsula in Tallinn, Estonia. 

Earth with Fire started as idea in a notebook in 2019 when I was living in Dubai. City life resulted in itchy fingers so ideas of getting my hands dirty resulted in watching countless of hours of Youtube videos and reading on all things pottery related. Life brought me back Estonia in early 2020, right before COVID lockdown happened. With no job and endless amounts of free time I decided to bring the ideas in my notebook to life.

Thanks to my super crafty dad, I got myself my very first pottery wheel — made of and old rusty basin and an electric drill. I spent hours behind the wheel every day, forcing my hands to do the movements I had learned from hours of studying. Couple months later I sold my first bowl to Germany. A year after that I moved to a small studio in Põhjala, had a real pottery wheel, a kiln and an almost functioning business.

Now... I am still in Põhjala, albeit in a bigger studio. I make ceramics that are abstractly inspired by Estonian nature. I still study and read about all things pottery but also have an immense privilege to teach others through workshops.
